The John Tait Fundraiser - Monday, November 18, 2002, the second year for 'Big Chiefs, Big Art, Big Night' will be filled with rollicking good fun from 6:30 - 9:00 pm. These guys show big heart as they display their amazing artistic talents. For more information, call 913.281.1133.

Kansas Governor's Inaugural Celebration Art Show - January 12, 2003, 1:00-4:00 pm. Accessible Arts will take several students who are blind and who have participated in the Oregon Trail Trek. Students will exhibit landscape boxes patterned after their memories of sites visited. The Art Show is part of the Kansas Family Festival celebrating our new governor. Multi-cultural foods and many forms of entertainment will provide much fun and learning for families. The Art Show will be in the Maner Conference Center (River room and Bison Room) at 17th and Main Streets, Topeka, Kansas. Park in the adjacent Expocentre parking lot and catch the shuttle at the Expocentre front entrance to the Maner Conference Center). For more information, call 913.281.1133.

 

 

Heart of America Wind Symphony Concert - April 13, 2003, 7:00 pm
The wind symphony presents their April concert which for the third year benefits Accessible Arts, Inc. The theme will be 'Lord of the Rings'.Three breaks during the concert will feature wheelchair dancing, Alvin Ailey student dancers, and an unexpected guest from the past. There will also be an exhibit of art by artists with disabilities. Tickets may be purchased through Johnson County Community College for $5 (children) and $10 (adults).

99 Drums - April 25-27, 2003, Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. A weekend of hands-on music and dance workshops exploring the arts, history, customs, and food of West African, Native American, Mexican, and Caribbean cultures. For children ages 7-16 of all abilities and disabilities. A free public performance culminates the program 3:30 - 5:30 pm on Sunday. The cost is $35, and there are a few scholarships available.
