Monet’s Garden: An Evening in Paris

With most children, it’s easy to unlock the artist within. Who hasn’t seen a child spontaneously drawinMonet's Garden by Mike Savageg, dancing, singing or playing music? However, something that comes so easily to most children can be difficult for children with disabilities. Often these children are not even given opportunities to really participate in arts programming. That’s where Accessible Arts comes in...by unlocking and opening the doors to the arts for them. spacerMonet's Garden at right by Mike Savage

How would you like to spend an evening in Paris with your closest friends?

From 5:30 – 9:00 pm, on Thursday, April 3, 2008, Starlight Theatre's Enclosed Stage will be transformed into Monet’s Garden, and all who enter will enjoy a delightful Spring evening in Paris. A series of intertwining gardens and meandering walkways will draw guests into several separate areas with small bistro tables near beverage and food stations. As they wander the pathways, guests will encounter various entertainers including living statues, caricature artists and mimes. They will be treated to the sounds of a string ensemble as they move through lush garden displays (perhaps getting ideas for their own gardens).

Around each corner, guests will witness various professional artists creating their next masterpiece (artists include Mike Savage, Mark English, Danny Meisinger, Cathy Broski, and Mark Manning). At the end of the evening, these beautiful works of art will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Every guest who attends will also be entered in a drawing for a vacation getaway and other fantastic prizes! Silent auction items for major arts venues and fine dining will also be available. All of the proceeds will benefit Accessible Arts and the children with disabilities whom they serve. Admission price is $75 per person ($50 of which is tax deductible). Cuisine by Broncato's; Auctioneer, Jeremy Clay, dress is business casual.

Sponsors are American Century Investments, Andre's Confiserie, Epic Entertainment, Hermes Landscaping, KUDL 98.1 Radio, Les Bourgeois and the Water Garden Society of Greater Kansas City (See below).
